For years, the pedestrian center of downtown Half Moon Bay has sat in the historic blocks north of Kelly Avenue, where the bookstores, wine bars, and long-tenured restaurants pull most of the foot traffic. The blocks south of Kelly have always been quieter. That is changing this summer, and the shift is worth paying attention to if you live here and want to understand how the town you already know is rearranging itself.
The pattern is easiest to see through the 2026 openings. Three of the most talked-about new places sit at the south end of Main or on the Highway 92 corner, not in the historic core. The result is a downtown with two anchors instead of one, and a summer calendar that finally gives residents a reason to walk the full length of Main.
The 730 Main Anchor
The most consequential opening of the year is at 730 Main Street, the former Sacrilege Brewery and Kitchen space.
